I sure learned a lesson on this call. I headed to the scene of the
accident way ahead of Emergency Services. As I crossed Gear Rd. I pulled
over to let the first 2 units by and then proceeded on to the scene. As I
arrived, a 3rd unit responding came up behind so stupid me, I pull off the
roadway to let it by. I found out the hard way you don't do that here. My
truck literally slid side ways about 3 feet off the road way and I was
stuck big time. Fortunately after the call was over, I was able to catch a
ride back home with one of the FireFighters. I got home and made
arrangements to get someone to pull me out of the muck. As I was waiting I
hear someone on the scanner telling dispatch that there's a truck off the
roadway and that it might possibly be part of the same accident, so I
called HVFD to let them know that it wasn't part of the accident it was
just mine..... Hey I guess I should watch out out there...:).
